Keyboard

Today I received a brand new Logitech K270 keyboard with Unifying support that I bought online. Originally, I wasn’t planning to buy a keyboard—sticking to the principle of never replacing anything that’s still usable. Plus, after buying and selling several keyboards in the past, whether cheap or expensive, none of them felt quite right, so I couldn’t be bothered to go through that again. But now I need to use one set of keyboard and mouse to control both my laptop and desktop. The already messy cables, combined with constantly switching between keyboards and mice, became such a hassle. Since I’d read about Logitech’s Unifying multi-device feature before, I wanted to find a keyboard that could share a receiver with my mouse. My old wired keyboard? I’ll just leave it for the desktop at home.
To be honest, I used to really dislike Logitech as a brand—overpriced, mediocre quality, and not exactly known for caring about domestic consumers. I’ve been using an M590 mouse since 2022, and I realized that after replacing the microswitches twice. Sure it’s packed with features, but the cost is a bloated software suite running in the background, and the features themselves aren’t even that great. The only useful parts are the multi-channel Unifying receiver and the device-switching button. But the receiver that came with the mouse broke last year as well, I had to buy a replacement just to keep using it.
Figuring out which keyboard supported Unifying was a headache. Official stores sell them for nearly 100 yuan but don’t mention Unifying at all—if it’s not listed, it’s probably not supported. I saw old Unifying models without receivers going for 50, then spotted someone selling a new company-issued Unifying version with receiver at the same price, so I grabbed it. Turns out it wouldn’t pair with my mouse receiver—realized later the replacement receiver I bought was single-channel. A happy accident. This office keyboard has drainage holes, great battery life, should last years. After all that trial and error, I’ve circled back to something simple.
